For some, the season is coming to an end, while for others a new season begins. For beach goers it hasn't been a great summer, but speaking for myself as a cyclist, weather-wise it's been a great summer.

As always, Rhody Round Up was a great success. Despite the clouds and a few showers, the spirits of chief organizer Ray Foulkes, and chief chef Norm Auburn were not dampened, and even while training a new crew, they produced another successful Round Up. And to top off perfectly cooked chicken, were the favorite desserts brought by club members. Besides the festivities, awards were given to Gill Peel, Mike Miller, Diane Burns and Ray Delaney. Each was given a NBW Blue Shirt as a token of the club's great appreciation for their very generous volunteering. Folks like these support the NBW in an indispensable way. However, it was disappointing that we couldn't ride over the Jamestown Bridge, but... this must be the only state in which one can ride across a bridge, but cannot get on or off... strange, very strange.

The Flattest Century in the East was terrific, making this "Success Number 29". The low humidity, moderate temperatures and light wind insured ideal riding weather. A few complaints were voiced about riding etiquette such as not riding single file, passing on the right, and not properly announcing when passing other bikers, but all in all it was a safe and memorable century. Elsewhere in the bulletin you will see TFCE Volunteer Chairman Don Paiva's list of names. Too often we talk about the generic volunteer, but here are the actual names of the people who put together the club's first century of a new millennium (a milestone in itself!). Please take a minute to read Don's list, you might recognize several of them. HELMETS OFF & THREE CHEERS TO OUR COORDINATORS & VOLUNTEERS!!!

Liz Foulkes, who took over processing the TFCE Registrations (over 1600 this year!) from Gayle Raposa, did an outstanding job using a new format and introducing on-line registration. A little over 300 people registered on-line, which means we'll likely do it again next year.

A new shipment of NBW riding jerseys and socks has arrived. Since Don Rancourt will no longer be handling the shipping and handling of NBW clothing and accessories. a new manager is needed. Please give a call to the hotline or email me if you're interested in filling the spot.

I'm sure the fall weather will be as good as the summer's so we can keep riding well into winter. Check the fall riding schedule on the back cover, I'm sure you'll see a ride there that you would love to arrow.

Remember to ride right and to ride safe.

David
